Oasis. Brother who wrote the legend of Britpop.

Hi, I'm back with a music story today. Last
time, I wrote a post about Bon Jovi. If you want to see this post, please look
at another post on my blog. Have you heard the music of Oasis? I've loved rock
since I was young. Oasis's music came out when I was born, but I was comforted
a lot when I listened to their music in my teens.
Their music is so good that it can be seen
as the Beatles' comeback. The band Oasis, which dominated the 1990s, is a
British pop band from Manchester. So far, the band has sold more than 20
million copies in the UK alone and 76 million copies worldwide. Oasis is a band
influenced by the Beatles. You can feel the Beatles' feelings in their music.
This is not my subjective idea. Oasis was so popular in England and around the
world that it was called the "second Beatles." Especially the
popularity of the British public, until they disbanded in the 1990s, there
wasn't a band that was so loved in England. I'm going to write about the Oasis
in this post.
The legend of Britpop. Oasis
Oasis is a British band representing the
1990s. It is a band composed of Noel Gallagher, a guitarist and composer, and
Liam Gallagher, a frontman, a vocalist. The biggest feature of their music is
that they used the existing music as much as possible and interpreted it in
their own style rather than creating new music. If you listen to Oasis' music,
there's nothing new musically. But if you listen to their music once, you can't
help but love it. The music doesn't have to be experimental, does it? If the
listener likes it, I think it's good music.
Oasis was formed in Manchester, England in
1991. Oasis released their first album, "Definitely Maybe", in 1994,
which received much praise from critics. Afterwards, they released their second
album, What's the Story Morning Glory, in 1995, which probably kept Oasis here
today. This album is a huge hit. In the first week of the album's release,
340,000 copies were sold. The album, which was sold at an alarming rate,
immediately topped the UK charts.
However, after Oasis released its third
album, the evaluation began to be harsh, and the fourth and fifth albums
failed. The failure continued, but Oasis started to regain sales from the sixth
album. However, in 2009, Noel Gallagher left the Oasis, which then disbanded.

Brothers Gallagher
Before we explain the Oasis, we can't leave
out the Gallagher brothers who made the Oasis. They were born in a poor working
class and raised by a spoiled father. Noel is said to have been beaten by his father
until he passed out in his childhood. He said he wanted to live in such a
desperate environment. This positive mind is captured in their songs by Oasis.
They have had a really hard life, but they always tried to be happy. They
eventually became the hope of the British working class.

Oasis debut
Oasis had been a band member since Liam
Gallagher started the band The Lane in 1991. They later renamed the band Oasis
and went on to work as an unknown for two years. They were doing music without
any income, and in 1993, they had a tremendous opportunity. A band called
Sister Lovers performed at the club, and they offered to the club that they
wanted the Oasis to perform together. But there is a problem here. An official
of the club said that the Oasis would not be allowed to perform. However,
Cister Lubbers wanted to perform with Oasis, so if they didn't let us perform,
we wouldn't be on stage either, and Oasis ended up performing.
By a tremendous coincidence, British label
mogul Alan McGee visited the club to discover the band. At the time, his
girlfriend was a member of Sister Lover's, who came to see his girlfriend and
saw Oasis perform. The more he listened to Oasis' songs, the more he thought
about signing a contract. This is how Oasis' debut will be confirmed.
Afterwards, they released their debut album
"Definitely Maybe", which included Supersonic, Shakermaker, and Live
Forever. The album created such a huge syndrome that it was titled the
best-selling debut album in the UK. It sold 86,000 copies in a week, which is a
huge figure. In 1994, it was not even ranked on the Billboard chart, but the
following year, in 1995, it started with a low rank and reached 58th place.
Since then, their albums have sold a lot in the U.S., with more than 1 million
copies sold in the U.S. alone. "Definitely Maybe" has received much
acclaim from most magazines and has been called a masterpiece.
Oasis was nominated for the Best Group
Award, the Best New Artist Award, the Best Album Award, and the Best Single
Award at the 1995 Brit Awards in February 1995, but received the Best New
Artist Award. It can be seen as the appearance of a spectacular newcomer.

BritPop War
After they won the rookie award, Oasis' first pre-released single <(What's the story) Morning Glory?> was released on 24 April 1995 and topped the UK Singles Chart. However, after the release of their second single, Roll With It, the Britpop War began. Blur will release their single album in time for Oasis' single release. After this incident, a lot of attention is drawn to people. In the end, the two singles are competing. A week after the release of the two singles, Country House sold 274,000 copies, and Roll With It was ranked second with 216,000 copies, ending in Blur's victory. Oasis must have hurt his pride at this time. Although Oasis was defeated in the sales volume of the single album, Oasis was preparing for something even greater. It is the second studio album by Oasis.
(What's the Story) Morning Glory?
It is an album that allowed Oasis to win a
huge victory in the Britpop war, which was drawing attention from all England.
Oasis threw a dynamite that ended the war. From this point on, the solo
performance of the first album, which broke the debut record, began to be
dominated by Oasis, not the Britpop war. The sales of the first album were also
enormous, but it showed nearly three times the sales volume. All the songs in
this album are very good. It is no exaggeration to say that it is an album
composed only of masterpieces.
It has become so popular that it is said
that Oasis' songs are more famous than British countries. The album, which is
much more advanced and stable than before, is a must-hear album. If the first
album tells the story of a person who wants to become a rock star, the second
album tells the story of a person who has already become a rock star. It can be
seen as an album where Noel's genius peaked. The album has even sold over 4
million copies in the United States. The moment since then has been called the
best band since the Beatles.
At that time, their popularity was so great
that it was said, "In England, a beggar can sing Oasis songs." The
album's third single, Wonderwall, was released on October 30, 1995, and peaked
at number two, but has since sold a lot. By 2017, the song had sold more than
2.6 million copies as a single, becoming Oasis's best-selling single and being
published in elementary school music textbooks. The nickname "the second
British nation" is not a lie.
It is the Knebworth concert that proves the
popularity of Oasis. At that time, the Oasis syndrome was enormous in England.
This syndrome reached its peak in the mid-96. Oasis sold out a large concert
hall, which was held at Knebworth from August 10 to 11, 1996, attracting about
250,000 viewers, 125,000 for two days. At that time, a tremendous thing
happened, and as many as 2.6 million people were planning to book this
performance at that time. It was one-twentieth of the British population at the
time. It is an event that gives us a sense of the immense popularity of Oasis.

After that, they fail.
I don't want to say it's a failure because
it's my favorite band, but afterwards, they can't show better performance than
the first and second albums. Unlike Bon Jovi, who has always been successful in
keeping with the changing times, they have not overcome it with a better album.
The public was very excited about their third album because they showed a huge
album in their second album.
Their third album, "Be Here Now",
was named the fastest-selling album in the UK. It sold 1 million copies in the
U.K. within two weeks of its release, and sold 150,000 copies in the U.S.,
ranking second in the first week. However, the Oasis reportedly failed to
record 400,000 copies they had expected. So far, they have sold 1 million
copies in the U.S., but they have consistently sold for a long time, not
exceeding their second album. The album reached number one in the UK for five
consecutive weeks, but received harsh public criticism. Like this, the Oasis
Syndrome is gradually on the decline.
And they break up.
They continued to release albums and showed
good sales, but eventually they disbanded when Noel Gallagher left the band in
2009. They seem to have failed to surpass themselves because they showed
excessive genius in the first and second albums. Unfortunately, the oasis
disappears into history.
